Winter Jobs in the garden
There is still lots that can be done in the garden over the winter months. Here are a few jobs you can tend to.
Soft Fruits
When the ground isn’t frozen, this is the time to plant soft fruits eg Raspberries, Gooseberries, Blueberries Honey berries etc. We have all in stock.
Bird Feeders and baths
Keep bird baths de- iced & bird feeders regularly cleaned with soapy water and topped up with high energy bird foods such as sunflower hearts, peanuts, suet and fat balls.
Mulch
To help frost proof plants and improve soil add a layer of mulch ( fallen leaves) or straw ( without grass seed heads) We stock various bagged mulch.
Bare Root Hedging
We stock a variety of bare root native hedging whips, including Spindle, Hawthorn, Hornbeam and Dogwood. Hedges provide both a corridor and a haven for wildlife, they help prevent soil erosion and water runoff, as well as being a more robust option to fence panels, which are subject to wind damage.
